Stupid M1 failed me again (4)

    February 2nd, 2008

I couldn’t do an outgoing call on the 3G network for more than an hour in school! It seems like the UTMS for M1 is down. During this period of time, my phone would just prompt me “Connection Error” whenever I tried calling out. If I were to call M1 helpdesk,, they would simply ask me to service my handphone, reboot it, or even re-seat my SIM card.

To isolate the problem to 3G, I fixed my phone connection to use only GSM, crossed my fingers and tried calling to one of my friends. Viola! The call got connected! Any M1 helpdesk personnel will casually tell you that your handphone’s 3G capability is faulty and it is time to service it.

I shifted to another location and was clearly out of the suspected faulty cell. Swapped back to UTMS and made a successful call.

I wonder why am I paying for a problematic handphone service. What happen to their slogan of “anywhere under the Sun”? Oh, it was drizzling that evening, perhaps that is why.

    1. i too experience prob. i shifted already btw.. so at my new place, i got very bad or no signal on GSM network. Feedback to M1 and the guy called me back, ask me try GSM network since i mentioned i using a 3G phone. Told him i didn’t switch to 3G network at all, been using GSM all along. So 1 fine day, i decided to try switch to UTMS and viola! got perfect signal. -.-”

And guess what.. in my office, i got bad signal for UTMS network. duhz…

    2. Tammy,

if I remember correctly, Jurong area need to use UTMS as there are many users on prepaid card (which only uses GSM). M1 sux! They are too engross in profiting and forgot their role in the telecommunication industry in Singapore!

You should check out their broadband on mobile (BBoM) plan reviews. It is the worst of the lot. I wanted to sign up BBoM as a value added service, but they say I can’t as they don’t offer it. The only way for me to use M1 BBoM is to switch SIM card when I wanna use broadband, and switch back to my original SIM if I wish to call. I’m wondering if the management of M1 has only PSLE certification.

Ah, enough of my rant on the stupid M1.

And.. my office is in NTU (considered JW mah)… 3G also cannot use? ur bro under M1 or other telco? got prob anot? sekali is my office building nia.. this particular area.. ZzZzzz

Maybe later i send email ‘do survey’.. den complain m1 again :P coz i noe another of my colleague also got bad signal (m1 also & using N81 or N82 i tink..)

    4. Tammy,

Yeah! You should really gather some feedbacks and forward them to M1. Else they will tell you that it is an isolated problem.
