Goodness of Information Systems in a bad scenario

    December 2nd, 2008

Information Systems has enabled a lot of processes to be more efficient. It has allowed the management to keep track of every aspect of its business - from end users to its staff, monitoring environment factors to it internal operations.

I guess public transport operator has been able to utilise it to the fullest! Monitoring the passenger flow at each station in real time and dynamically dispatching the trains so as to achieve maximum tonnage on the trains. Effectively reducing its cost of operations. By not transfering the savings to end users (who faces increasing fare), they can effectively increase their revenue!

Sigh. I am always in a packed train.

Erm, the frequency can be increased but that would impact their bottom line so I guess they won’t do it.
