Perodic M1 Mobile Broadband Review (Speedtest) (11)

    May 13th, 2009 | Tags: , , , , ,

Noticed the speed of M1’s mobile broadband/broadband on mobile is really irregular. I have had times of terrible speeds, terrible latency in the range of tens of thousands ms. On lucky days I get my fair share of the speed I am entitled to.

    My equipments
As I do not have a USB dongle, my Nokia E51 doubled up as my 3.5g modem. The mobile connection is shared out to my iPod Touch (2G) through JoikuSpot.

    Monitoring procedure
I use mobile on broadband frequently – reading news and mails, downloading apps on iPod Touch, surfing blogs of friends, etc. At times, the response is really sluggish on mobile broadband. So I would try to do speedtest regularly to track the performance of M1 Mobile Broadband.

    1. i tried and used M1 mobile broadband before. Not very impressive. Changed to singtel and it is soooo much faster. maybe you can consider converting.

    2. jadegirlv,

Too bad I tied the plan to my mobile voice plan. :( Need to wait until I switch over to Singtel. My friend’s Singtel’s 1mbps is impressive. Burst speed up to 2mbps! Mine can reach 1mbps I laugh le

    3. Nid more than 1 for connectivity.

    4. kL,

You mean need more than 1mbps? Seems like M1’s Broadband on Mobile/Mobile Broadband performance fluctuates a lot.

    5. I mean nid rely on more than 1 operator.

    6. I’m using the M1 2mbps one now, it was not that fast few mths ago, but still doable. Now the average speed is around 1.8mbps whenever i test it.

    7. lch,

Wow! That’s good for you. I get fantastic speeds at times too.

    8. Singtel is good :)

      hehe

but I’ve canceled it though. Don’t have the phone to go along with the plan

    9. does singtel even offer a mobile broadband service? Coz it’s not even listed in their website

    10. Ich,

Singtel do offer mobile broadband services. it is well hidden in their website http://home.singtel.com/bbmobile/

So by the end of the day, is M1 boardband good or no good?

    11. LEon,

It seems like most broadband services performs good in certain area and performs badly in some. It just happen that it had terrible speeds at Bukit Batok area.
