    2nd hand Holux GPSlim 240

Got a second hand Holux GPSlim 240 from a local forumer. Aesthetically-wise, it has got deep scratches. Functionality-wise, ok! Just some basic specifications.

    Specifications

    • Tracks up to 20 satellites
    • Receiver: L1, C/A code
    • Update rate: 1 HZ(max)
    • Antenna Type: Built in Patch Antenna
    • Minimum signal tracked: -159dBm *
    • Dimension: 64 x 22 x 15 mm
    • Weight : < 35g
    • On/off switch: slide switcher
    • Lithium-ion battery lasts for more than 8 hours of use

    Acquisition time

    • Reacquisition 0.1 sec. averaged
    • Hot Start 1 sec. averaged
    • Warm Start 38 sec. averaged
    • Cold Start 42 sec. averaged

Took it out for a “test drive” this afternoon. It seems like the satellite lock on timing is pretty fast (compared to my E66 when assistance is turned off). I think it averaged around 40 seconds to locate enough satellites for a 2D lock, give it a couple of seconds more and it will achieve a 3D lock.

Bringing it around is also simple, there is a catch on the tracker for you to attach lanyard. With that, you can tie the tracker to your backpack or hang it across your chest! Looking forward to using it overseas!
