Bye bye Canon A85. Hello Canon PowerShot S90 (2)
The Canon A85′s CMOS sensor decided to give me on me after seeing all those ugly shots I’ve taken in the past. Traded it in for a Canon PowerShot S90 through the Canon Privilege Purchase Program.
The PowerShot S90 that cost me S$595 with 8GB SD card & pouch
So why did I choose the PowerShot S90?
- It’s small and lightweight
- Outstanding image quality when compared to other compact cameras
- Better low light performance than other compacts
- Good JPEG quality with option for RAW image
- Fast F/2 lens
- Manual controls for aperture, shutter speed, flash exposure
Some not so cool stuffs
- Lacks HD movie mode
- Control dial is too loose which may cause you to adjust the exposure value unknowingly
Check out the Canon PowerShot S90 Microsite!
Hi, I stumbled across your site via a Google search. Just to let you know, I too had a problem with the A85′s sensor after a few years. It gave me pictures with red lines running through them. Turns out it’s a known product advisory and Canon is willing to repair them even out of warranty at no cost (other than shipping it to them). Not sure if that’ll be the same issue as yours, but it’s probably worth looking into. Though now that you have the S90, you may not even want to bother…
Phil,
I see. Thanks for informing. But I think trading in for a new camera is pretty worth it since it is the Canon S90.
