MLDonkey is another client that supports a few Peer-to-Peer protocols (bittorrent, edonkey, …). Best of all, this bittorrent client has got a web interface for you to administrate the bittorrent client without the need to telnet in! So it makes torrenting easier. Wish that it was a desktop application instead? Use sancho to remotely administrate your bittorrent or edonkey download.

The file above is MLDonkey compiled for use on my DNS-323. I don’t provide support for the compiled application. I compiled it for my own use and feel that others might find it useful, hence I am sharing it here. I do welcome pointers on the shell script (mlnet.sh).

The script (mlnet.sh) included will attempt to do a symbolic link of the actual working directory (/.mldonkey) to the harddisk (/mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey) in DNS-323. Please refer to the support pages of MLDonkey for stuffs pertaining to it (e.g. configurations, usage). The quick start guide on their homepage is a nice start.

I have only enabled edonkey, bittorrent, http and ftp download features in this binary so don’t bother trying out other supported protocols. The libraries required ate static linked (during compilation) hence it wont require additional configuration on the DNS-323. Maybe this is the factor that has contributed to the large binary size.

If you do encounter “segmentation fault” after a few runs (which I hope you don’t). Back up your configurations (*.ini), downloads and file you think you would need before running the following commands (without mlnet running).

    / # rm -rf /mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey
    / # rm -rf /.mldonkey

    Pre-requisites
You should be using the telnet daemon from the another telnet daemon post

    Installation Instructions
Download and extract the contents of the archive to /mnt/HD_a2/. The location of the extracted files should look like the following

    /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh
    /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/mlnet

The next step would be giving the files permission to execute

    / # chmod a+x /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh
    / # chmod a+x /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/mlnet

The last step would be running the application by typing the following commands

    / # mkdir /mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey
    / # mkdir -p /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/logs
    / # /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh

In the future after a reboot of the NAS, you might wish to start MLDonkey again by issuing the following command

    / # /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh

Your mlnet should be running in the background by now. You can do a simple check by using the ps command.

Next we shall do the initial setup of mldonkey by doing telneting to the administration port.

    / # telnet 127.0.0.1 4000
    Trying 127.0.0.1…
    Connected to 127.0.0.1.
    Escape character is ‘^]’.
    Welcome to MLDonkey 2.8.5
    Welcome on mldonkey command-line

    Use ? for help

    MLdonkey command-line:
    > auth admin “”
    Full access enabled

    MLdonkey command-line:
    > passwd newpasswd
    Password of user admin changed

    MLdonkey command-line:
    > set allowed_ips “127.0.0.1 255.255.255.255″
    option allowed_ips value changed

    MLdonkey command-line:
    > save
    options and sources saved

    MLdonkey command-line:
    > exit

Next try going to the web administration port 4080 of mldonkey using your web browser.

    Hint
You can use peerguardian format blocklist for MLD. If you don’t know what peerguardian is all about. Surf on to peerguardian.

    2. Thanks. :) Replied you in the forum as well.

    3. MLDonkey 2.8.7 for DNS-323

MLDonkey for DNS-323: 2.8.7 Decided to compile MLDonkey 2.8.7 for DNS-323. Try it and see if it is working well for you. Setup instructions are pretty much the same as this…

    4. The downloadlink to version 2.8.7 seems to be broken. I get only a very small file that can’t be opened with Winzip…

      regards….keule

    5. no prob with my com

try downloading using another browser or clear ur cache first before redownloading again

    6. i have a problem. when i enable the MLdonkey on my dns323 i can no longer access the network share ex: \\ip\volume_1. When i kill MLdonky evrything works. any hint?

    7. Regal: What other stuffs are you running on the DNS-323 besides telnet and mldonkey?

    8. Iam only using MLdonkey with funplug 0.2 I have follow the guide at this page. MLDonkey works but it is very slow to download torrents get like 18KB/s with MLDonkey, when i use uTorrent om my PCa get 1.7MB/s

    9. Regal: type the following “ps | wc -l” and show me the number you see. I am running 42 processes. How about you?

Regarding the slow download, did you play with the settings of MLDonkey? You need to set a port and port forward it on your router (if you got one).

    10. I have 46 processes running. If you want i can send you the hole list.

Yes i have i FW and i have open a port for MLD.

    11. I have take care of the speed problem. I had not look close enough at the settings.

    12. Regal: Please do send me the output of “ps” and the file /mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey/mlnet.log

    13. When i run the script my DNS323 reports that I don’t have the command ‘nohup’.

Also I cannot telnet to my local box to set up the admin because i do not have a telnet command.

I do have the telnet daemon setup to access the box.

MLNet app does start ok from the command prompt.

    14. budda: use another telnet daemon. It comes with nohup and telnet and other stuffs. Courtesy of fonz.

    15. Im a noob and am having trouble doing this command as per your instructions.

      / # /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh

      it prompts me with a

chmod: /mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey/*: No such file or directory
/mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh cannot create /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/logs/mlnet: No such file or directory

      The files are there though.

    16. Hai Doan: do a mkdir -p /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/logs

    17. Thanks for your help! I am also running into another issue.

Telnetting works only if I have 1 hard drive installed. If I install two it wont start the telnet app. I do have it installed into the first volume also.

But not only that, It does not list my 2nd hard drive when I am browsing for it through windows.

Thanks a lot for this program by the way. I’m using it right now and it works great.

    18. Hai Doan: I’ve only got single harddisk and hence unable to help you on the issue. But do take a look at this wiki for help on that issue. :)

    19. Thanks for the link. I decided to stick the funplug.tar on both drives and found out it only extracted on the 2nd volume and loaded from there.

    20. Hey man,

Just wanted to tell you that this is pretty badass… I’m loving the torrenting capabilities while not having my machines up and running during hot weather (west coat of the US). I am going to experiment and see if the DNS survives 3 weeks of continuous downloading while I am away on vacation :o

    21. Fanel: I hope that your DNS-323 is behind a uninterrupted power supply. Let see if your DNS-323 can survive three weeks. :) Good luck!

    22. It’s behind a UPS and a surge protector ;). I am having an interesting thing happening here - refer to the following screenie (i combined two together):

      http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/5474/oddnessud4.jpg

Essentially if you look at the top bar with the download stats - it shows I’ve downloaded over 10 gigs by torrenting a single torrent file. If you look at the torrent information itself - it shows I only got 70.4%, or 2.3 gigs out of the 3.27. The thing is it was at 70% about 4 hours before I posted this… what gives? Bad torrent that is loosing hashes? The client maybe freaking out? Any suggestions?

    23. Ahhh I found out whats wrong - the availability was stuck at that percentage… lol nvm ^_^

    24. Heh - sorry to bug you but I have seem to find yet another odd thing:

When I torrent with MLDONKEY, after the torrent done downloading, it keeps seeding I can’t find any way of stopping it and taking it out of the queue unless I delete it from the incoming folder… also - why is every single file I download has a “read-only” mod attached to it with out any ability to change it unless I either chmod it through telnet or rm -rf it?

    25. Fanel: Under the options there is a settings where by you can make mldonkey run a command when torrent finishes, you can use that to shift it out of the incoming folder. Similarly you can set the required permission settings (for directories and files) in the options. Hope it helps

    26. What is wrong here ???

    32. Has anyone successfully implemented the “file_completed_cmd” script execution on mlnet running on the DNS323? (whatever I try, scripts or even simple echo/touch, I get “Exception execve failed on …”)

    33. cab007: yeap, I’m using file_completed_cmd to shift completed torrents out.

    36. Hi all,

mein english is very bad. I install MLdonky on my new CE3SNAS (Conceptronic) with fw 1.02beta. I use “another telnet damoen” and edit with vi 3 lines in the fun_plug. When i started on the command line “/mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh” the came the same as by “budda” >>nohup: appending to nohup.out.

My soul ist broken down. Can you help me, thanks.

      Best regards form
      Bavaria, Munich

    37. Hi Jimi Bondi,

Your english is pretty ok. Try typing the following command.

      mkdir -p /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/logs

    38. how do you add a user without admin rights?

    39. Hi, i’m running your pre compiled version of MLDonkey 2.9.0 (bittorrent, filetp, gdlib) which runs smooth on the DNS323 (1.03/RAID0). Are you planning to try compiling other plugins such as DirectConnect? URL: http://mldonkey.sourceforge.net/MLdonkeyPlugin

    40. rico, thanks for trying out the MLDonkey 2.9.0 and letting me know that it is running smoothly on your DNS323 (1.03/Raid0). Unfortunately I won’t be compiling MLDonkey with other plugins (e.g. DirectConnect) unless there is a demand or I’ve the time to do it.

Do check here often as I might compile when I finish up my stuffs. :)

    41. i understand you don’t want to spend time compiling if there is no demand. right now i dont have time but will try it soon. i’m sure the instructions on the dns323 wiki pages are sufficient to start compiling.

FYI: i started using mldonkey 2.9.0 and dont know the previous versions. no additional mods have been done because it works very smoothly. all torrents finish, samba never disconnect. largest torrent size: over 7GB, fastest dl rate: 400KB/s, number of torrents simultaneously: about 10

    42. rico, infact I could try compiling one with DirectConnect but I won’t be able to test if it works or support it as I am unfamiliar with the protocol. Let me try compiling it when I am done with my assignments.

Glad to know that MLDonkey is working great for you. The community have helped a lot to make MLDonkey on DNS-323 smooth and stable.

    43. Hi. I have a quick question. I recently bought the 323 and installed MLDonkey 2.9.0 right away.

I am getting slow connections and even not connections at all with Bittorrent. I have like 15 files pending (All of them are series seasons with nice amount of seeds (Even the mldokney shows like 800 sources for the one that has less sources) and even after running for a day it cant connect.

It only downloaded 80MB of 120GB that is in queue.

Anything that could be wrong or maybe I have to add some bittorrent servers/trackers? Edonkey networks seems to work quite fine.

      Thanks!!!

    44. Hi, i’m now running your pre compiled version (MLDonkey 2.9.0 bittorrent) which runs well on my Conceptronic CH3SNAS RAID1 (same hardware as the DNS 323, just cheaper….).
No problems installing, thanks for this!

    45. Sebass, some trackers actually bans MLDonkey client. :(. Do check if the trackers you are connecting to have policies on bittorrent client usage. You can also check if your router is blocking the connections.

Highandstoned, glad to know that MLDonkey is running for your CH3SNAS! Maybe I should get my hands on that! I need another NAS!

    46. MLDonkey 2.9.0

MLDonkey 2.9.0 has been released! You can view the full changelog at MLDonkey’s website. Compiled a version for use on DNS-323 and realized that the binary is smaller! Download the new MLDonkey 2.9.0 for DNS-323 Do take note that it…

    47. MLDonkey 2.9.1

The folks over at mldonkey have released MLDonkey 2.9.1. Compiled 2.9.1 for DNS-323 in the following two flavors - one with bittorrent and edonkey, one without edonkey. Download the new MLDonkey 2.9.1 for DNS-323 Like what I have mentioned for…

    48. Shadowandy,

Truely some awsome info here–thanks for the guidance!

Was wondering if there is any chance we could get 2.9.1 complied with all p2p networks (eDonkey2000, Overnet, Kad, Gnutella, Gnutella2, BitTorrent, etc…) for use on the DNS-323? That way we could turn ‘um on/off via the .ini to play ’round w/ the various networks. I’d greatly appreciate your help!

    49. Hi ad, I do release binary with edonkey support. As for Overnet and Kad, it seems like mldonkey have dropped it off. I do have a copy of binary which has edonkey, Gnutella, Gnutella2, BitTorrent, DirectConnect, … I won’t be able to test it as I am unfamiliar with other file sharing protocols other than edonkey and bittorrent.

    50. okay, thanks neways. ill keep looking…

    51. MLDonkey 2.9.1 with most plugins

There has been several request for MLDonkey with other network plugins. I had a little free time between rushing my reports so tried my hands at compiling them. The stuffs that are supported in this release are - Direct Connect,…

    52. ad, I have release a binary which you might be interested. Do test it out.

    53. MLDonkey 2.9.2

The folks over at mldonkey have release MLDonkey 2.9.2. Didn’t realize that there is a new release until this morning. I have compiled this version in 3 flavors - lite, normal, everything. The file size of each binary is different…

    54. MLDonkey 2.9.2 Real Simple

Everybody was once a newbie in Linux command. I been through the terrors of following long set of commands, following guides just to get a simple thing up. How I wish there was one person/guru to help me then. I…

    55. Hi Andy in the shadows, thanks for MLDonkey 2.9.2(edonkey,bittorrent,filetp,directconnect,gnutella,g2,fasttrack,gdlib), I installed it thanks to your instructions. For directconnect, I frwd the TCP port but can’t connect to any servers. On other directconnect clients, you enter the serverlist in the prefs and then can visualize servers and connect to them according to their minimal share rates and other criterias. anyone have it working fully on MLDonkey?

    56. Rico, welcome. I wouldn’t be able to help you on protocols other than donkey and bittorrent as I don’t really know how to operate other plugins. Perhaps somebody can shed some light on this issue of directconnect?

    57. Cheers ShadowAndy. With a bit of tinkering I’ve been pulling torrents via the box now for a few days. Tis class. Brings back some Linux memories too.

    58. Greg, have fun with mldonkey. ;)
You should have used the realsimple edition. Setting up DNS-323 for torrenting would be much simpler.

    59. Do you compile this version “2.9.2 (edonkey,bittorrent,filetp,directconnect,gnutella,g2,fasttrack,gdlib):” to *.exe file for Windows and send me on my e-mail?

    60. Johnny,

Surf on to MLDonkey’s website and download the binaries they’ve compiled for win32 systems.

    61. The newest version hasn’t got Gnutella and G2. I need this networks. It’s possible to run this files on PC? What command must I use?

    62. Hi, i’m a newbe in linux. I just bought the ch3snas and tried to install mldonkey following the steps on this site.
when i execute the script mlnet.sh,i get an error at the “nohup” command. It seems that this command does not exist.
      anybody know what to do?

    63. picmaster,

Probably you missed out that it requires Another Telnet Daemon. Try using fonz’s fun_plug and it would provide you with nohup.

    64. Thanx shadowandy !

Now i have “BusyBox v1.6.1 (2007-07-22 13:51:10 CEST) Built-in shell” , when starting the telnet session with CH3SNAS!
But when executing mlnet.sh i get : “nohup: appending to nohup.out” , when i then check with ps i dont see the mldonkey service running.
      When i execute “telnet 127.0.0.1 4000″ i get this respons :
“telnet: cannot connect to remote host (127.0.0.1): Connection refused”

      Any idee whats going wrong?

    65. picmaster

probably you have a case of segmentation fault. Follow the instructions above to solve it. :)

    66. Hi Shadowandy , thanx again. I removed everything and tried again.
these are the exact steps am i doing :
      a) i use the two files in the 2.9.0 (bittorrent, filetp, gdlib) dowload
      b) And copy those files within xp , mlnet.sh in “Volume1″ and mlnet in “Volume1\lnx_bin”.
      c) i login with telnet troug putty and check the files are in :
      /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh
      /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/mlnet
      wich is ok.
      d) i do :
      / # chmod a+x /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh
      / # chmod a+x /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/mlnet
      / # mkdir /mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey
      / # /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh

When executing mlnet.sh i get :”chmod: /mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey/*: No such file or directory”.
I checked if mldonkey exists, and it does!
      What am i doing wrong?

sorry for this idiot questions! People learn the most by there mistakes :-)

    67. picmaster,

Well, probably it is the first time it starts up then it would throw this message. On future startups, it wouldn’t show you that message anymore.

    68. Hi shadowandy,

it still does not work, would u like to have a chat with me?
      dpsven@hotmail.com

      Thanx !

    69. picmaster,

responded to you in your email. :)

    70. hi shadowandy
I’m having the same issues exactly as picmaster… did you work out a solution with him?

when executing mlnet.sh i get : “nohup: appending to nohup.out” , when i then check with ps i dont see the mldonkey service running.
      When i execute “telnet 127.0.0.1 4000″ i get this response :
“telnet: cannot connect to remote host (127.0.0.1): Connection refused”

    71. chrisb,

Could you paste me the result of your “ps” after running mlnet.sh?

    72. Sure Thing…. Here’s the telnet session from running mlnet.sh:

      / # /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh
      nohup: appending to nohup.out
      / # ps
      PID USER COMMAND

    73. Is this the same problem that picmaster was having? how did you solve it?

    74. chrisb,

can you try typing the below 3 lines and paste me the result.

      export MLDONKEY_DIR=”/mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey”
      export TMPDIR=”/mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey/temp”
      /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/mlnet

Unfortunately, I’ve yet to contact picmaster as I am still busy with my stuffs. Don’t really have a timeslot at night to have a nice chat with him.

    75. hi, just installed mldonkey. how do i connect to servers?

    76. chrisb,

Just rectified picmaster’s CH3NAS. His problem is not like yours. Perhaps you wish to contact me through email?

    77. Hi

Can you make DC++ for this device?

    78. Andrey Rogovsky,

Is it the same as DirectConnect? If it is, then it has already been compiled.

    79. MLDonkey for DNS-313

Some users has feedback to me that DNS-313 can also run the MLDonkey compiled for DNS-323 (due to the similar architecture)! MLDonkey would allow your DNS-323, DNS-313, CH3NAS, DNS-312H, etc to use various Peer-to-Peer protocols like Bittorrent, edonke…

    80. I am having the same issue with chrisb.

I have followed your steps mentioned above:

      # export MLDONKEY_DIR=”/mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey”
      # export TMPDIR=”/mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey/temp”
      # /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/mlnet

    81. Phillipcs,

execute the mlnet.sh found in /mnt/HD_a2/ instead of executing mlnet.

    82. Hi, I am a very newbie and have zero experience with Linux. In fact, I don’t understand any of the codes that you all have been talking about - I clearly need help! I am looking to install mldonkey to do bittorrent downloading without the PC. Can you please see if my understanding is right. Download mldonkey_292_real_simple.zip. Extract (using winzip) into the roof directory of the harddisk in the NAS. Reboot and wait before going into ipaddress:4080 using the browser?

    83. Rick,

Yes. Most of the users have zero experience with linux and followed the instructions and got it to work. In fact, most of the problems users encountered were because they skipped some steps .

    84. Thanks for your reply.
I have start all over again.

      Confirmed the files in:
      /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh
      /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/mlnet

      Start:

      # rm -rf /mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey
      # rm -rf /.mldonkey
      # chmod a+x /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh
      # chmod a+x /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/mlnet
      # mkdir /mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey
      # /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh
      /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/sh: /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh: Text file busy

      Have missed anything?

    85. Philipcs,

Are you using fonz’s fun_plug package? I noticed a handful of users encountering problem because they are not using fonz’s fun_plug.

    86. Hi, I have successfully installed mldonkey - thanks for your advice. I have another silly question. I have created a directory on volume_1 called torrents where all the torrents are kept. If I am using the torrents in that directory, shouldn’t the dl command be dllink /Volume_1/torrents/abc.torrent? or should it be dllink /ipaddress/volume_1/torrents/abc.torrent? I have tried both and both times it says No such file or directory - please help.

    87. Hi, me again… I have downloaded mldonkey-2.9.2-ALL-graphical-DNS-323.zip, extracted it and replaced the realsimple version of lnx_bin and mlnet.sh already in the volume_1 directory. I rebooted and have been able to login via broswer but I can no longer view the drive using windows explorer or map the drive. The error message is saying that the drive is not accessible. Please help! Thanks.

    88. Rick,

Volume_1 is actually /mnt/HD_a2. So technically you should supply it as /mnt/HD_a2/torrents/abc.torrent
it is a common problem and is documented in various sites. Try typing “smb restart” in your telnet session and wait a couple of minutes before accessing your share.

    89. Shadowandy is indeed a guru in this dns323! Thanks for the effort!

    90. Thank you. I now have another question about how to start a telnet session. You see, I have read the howto:telnet webpage. It says to install fun plug, then install telnet, then use the Putty to access. Since I don’t have access to the NAS, there is no way I am extract the telnet installation files. I am using the fun plug from mldonkey_292_real_simple.zip. Can you please tell me how to start a telnet session to run the “smb restart” command? Many thanks.

    91. Alex,

Thanks for the compliment. There are lots of people who are great at compiling stuffs for DNS-323.

    92. Rick,

Just use any telnet client and telnet to your DNS-323’s IP. The MLDonkey real simple starts telnet session.

    93. Hi, first off good work on the client.
Sadly i cant seem to get it to work, i also get the following error:
      / # /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh
      nohup: appending to nohup.out

Already tried the segmentation fault commands but still doesn’t work. Hope you can help me out

    94. Same problem as many others. I got a:
      nohup: appending to nohup.out
and mlnet doesn’t show on ps.
I have tried everything mentioned in these pages. The DNS-323 is pretty new and I have just copied some files, nothing else. What I’m doing wrong?

    95. btw, I’m using fun_plug by fonz

    96. DyStiC and Fran,

Can you type the 3 commands that I wanted Chrisb to type? Please paste me the results after that.

    97. Sure, thanx for your time.

      Here is the result:

      / # export MLDONKEY_DIR=”/mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey”
      / # export TMPDIR=”/mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey/temp”

this directory delete mlnet.pid and restart the core.
      / #

I already deleted everything and started over again, but still the same problem. btw i have a CH3SNAS, don’t know if that makes any difference.

    98. Hmm no i also have another error:

      / # rm -rf /.mldonkey

      Hope this helps.

    99. DyStiC,

Well you are suppose to invoke mlnet through mlnet.sh as it solves the /.mldonkey directory is full problem. That is why I wrote mlnet.sh. Can you paste me the result of the following command.

      which sh

Seems like most of the problems are from CH3SNAS.

    100. They are just exploiting you shadowandy! You don’t really need to accede to their request. I wont be surprised if they are not using the correct telnet client.

    101. Shadowandy, i ran the command here the resuylt:

      / # which sh
      /mnt/HD_a2/fun_plug.d/bin/sh

Hope you can make something out of it.

    102. Thanks for your help. I think I have started to download now. However, I can’t actually see the finished file. I am seeing how fast I am downloading but the actual downloaded file can’t be located. Where should I be looking?

    103. DyStiC,

      Execute the following 2 commands

      mkdir -p /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/logs
      /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh

    104. Rick,

      It is located in /mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey/incoming/

    105. Thanks. The torrent which I used contains 4-5 files one of which is a RMVB file with a chinese character filename. My statistics show that I have finished downloading it but it is not in /mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey/incoming/ as you say. Is there anywhere else I should be looking?
How do you just download only 1 of 5 files from a torrent using mldonkey?
I am trying to conserve upload data usage. Is the simpliest way to stop seeding a torrent to delete the torrent or is there a mldonkey command for it?
      Many thanks for your assistance.

    106. Shadowandy,
I deleted everything and started again and now it works. I’m still getting the “nohup: appending to nohup.out” message but mldonkey is running now, I get the web interface and it’s downloading. Is this message an error or just some info?

      Thanks for your time!

    107. Shadowandy:
Oops, I ansered too fast. Torrent files do download, but I have no servers in the list so I can’t search in edonkey. I’ve tried with some server.met files withoput success, “No such command servers” is the answer I’m getting.

    108. Rick and Fran,

Please refer to FAQ and forum on MLDonkey (sourceforge) for the usage of MLDonkey and its plugins.

I only use the bittorrent protocol. Other plugins are compiled due to request from users.

    109. Shadowandy, I use chinese files and directories. I am noticing that as I copy them onto my DNS323 the chinese characters don’t show. Do you know if there is anything that I can do to fix this?

    110. Rick,

Upgrade to the latest 1.04 firmware (for DNS-323) to fix unicode issue.

    111. Thanks Shadowandy. Stupid question again - where do you download 1.04 firmware from? I have looked at dlink and google. All that I can get is the beta version. Please point me in the right website to download from. Many thanks. Rick.

    112. Shadowandy, I think I have really stuffed it up. Because i have a hidden file which keeps seeding in mldonkey, I decided the get rid of it by formatting the harddisk. When I logged into the admin page and did a format, it starts and then tells me that the format has failed. I then have no way of accessing the drive again. Any ideas?

    113. Rick,

1.04 is in beta stage. That version have the unicode support. If you don’t wish to use beta version, then perhaps you need to do without unicode support.

    114. Shadowandy,

I have now installed 1.04beta. However, I am still unable to see chinese characters. Perhaps I need to reformat the harddisk first before unicode support becomes active? I actually tried formating. To do this, I first kill the mldonkey software, then delete the mldonkey program files in the volume_1 root directory. However, everytime I try to delete the mldonkey files, it says “access denied”. Have I not killed the program entirely? Any suggestions?

      Many thanks.

      Rick.

    115. Hi guys, tryed version 2.9.3,2.9.2 and 2.9.1 always got the same errors… maybe all the ones listyed here:
      - “chmod: /mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey/*: No such file or directory” every time, nothing changed when i created manually the directories with the proper chmod
      - segmentation fault every time…
All these issues solved uploading the mldonkey files using user admin via samba… previously i was using another user uploading via http://ftp..
      Strange indeed.

    116. I have wierd problems due to repeat segmentation fault. I found out that my ftp client program, filezilla, change the mlnet file when I upload it. Only when I did a mapped network drive , I realised mlnet filesize is different from the original. Spend a few days troubleshooting and now it’s working with the original file, copied over via mapped drive.

    117. kahuna,

thanks for sharing! FTP can transfer files in either ASCII or binary mode, that’s why the filesize changes and sometimes it doesn’t work.

    118. Shaowandy, something very strange has happened. I downloaded a BT that contains a few files in a directory. Once the downloading stopped, mldonkey creates a directory in “incoming/directories”. For some reason I cannot delete the directory or the files contained in it. I’d be grateful for your troubles. Rick.

    119. Hello,

I’m keep getting the same error messages

      CH3SNAS_1:/mnt/HD_a2# /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh

/mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh: line 15: syntax error near unexpected token `else’

      /mnt/HD_a2/mlnet.sh: line 15: `else’

Can somebody tell me what it meens
      CH3SNAS_1:/mnt/HD_a2#

    120. Rick,

Telnet into your DNS323 and chmod the folder and directories to 777.

    121. Getyours,

Are you using the fun_plug package from fonz?

    122. Hi Shadowandy,
Last night I downloaded your build of MLdonkey 2.9.2, and installed it, following your instructions, on my DNS-323. It worked without a glitch. It took me a little tinkering with the MLdonkey settings to get it the way I wanted but once configured it’s been running perfectly :-). Great work!!! This is really useful and your effort is greatly appreciated.

    123. shadowandy,

How can I check te funplug version?
Is it posible to exucute te funplug from a usb disk?

    124. Oke I’ve got it to work
still getting the same error but it seems to work

next thing to do is setting up Image Gallery

But I’m not getting futher than

      /mnt/HD_a2 # funpkg.sh lighttpd-1.4.17.tgz

      system doens’t reconize funpkg.sh

    125. Patrick,

Type the following command to check your fonz’s fun_plug version

      cat /mnt/HD_a2/fun_plug.d/etc/funplug-version

funpkg.sh is one of the shell scripts that come with fonz’s fun_plug. If you don’t have it, most likely you are not using fonz’s fun_plug.
