Nmap on DNS-323 (-)
For some reasons, I needed a network security scanner and was lazy to boot into my linux to run nmap. Compiled Nmap 4.68 for use on the DNS-323 family. It should work for devices running fonz’s fun_plug (0.5). For example, DNS-343, DNS-313, CH3SNAS, etc..
Adding compiling capabilities to your DNS-323 (1)
Do away with the grueling task of setting up a cross compile environment just to compile that small application to run on the DNS-343/DNS-323/DNS-313. Or waiting anxiously for somebody to compile that particular software you have been eyeing sooooOOooo long? Native compiling is rather simple if you are using fonz’s fun_plug 0.5.
Fixing degraded RAID 5 array on DNS-343 (2)
Seems like the firmware doesn’t recognized the replaced hard disk and the web interface still complains that the RAID 5 is degraded. Telnet into the DNS-343 and check the status of /dev/md0 (mdadm –detail /dev/md0). The RAID 5 is running on 3 disks and the 4th disk has not been added back into the RAID array.
Seems like /dev/sdd2 has not been added back to the array. Hot added the /dev/sdd2 (mdadm –add /dev/md0 /dev/sdd2) and viola! The RAID 5 array is complete again. The DNS-343 is happily syncing the data when checked (mdadm –detail /dev/md0).
Installing forum script on D-Link NAS (8)
My workplace needed a simple forum to test out some stuffs and so happened hangyong also needed one. So must as well I document the installation procedure for him as well. Researched abit on available forum scripts (phpbb, smf, etc.) and in the end settled with SMF for its lighter memory footprint.
fun_plugging the DNS-343 (7)
Like its predecessor (DNS-313, DNS-323), the unit is fun_plug-able straight out of the box. You don’t need to modify anything to get the fonz’s fun_plug going. Just download the fun_plug.tgz and fun_plug file and place it on Volume_1. Restart the device and it will be installed! You can check it by telnet-ing to your DNS-343.
Note: Download fun_plug.tgz and fun_plug file from fonz’s website
