Do away with the grueling task of setting up a cross compile environment just to compile that small application to run on the DNS-343/DNS-323/DNS-313. Or waiting anxiously for somebody to compile that particular software you have been eyeing sooooOOooo long? Native compiling is rather simple if you are using fonz’s fun_plug 0.5.

My workplace needed a simple forum to test out some stuffs and so happened hangyong also needed one. So must as well I document the installation procedure for him as well. Researched abit on available forum scripts (phpbb, smf, etc.) and in the end settled with SMF for its lighter memory footprint.

Well, it seems like the power adaptors of D-Link products are more or less the same. I flipped through the power adaptors of my dlink products and found that I have a smaller two pin power adaptor rated at 12V/2A! The power brick of DNS-313 outputs at 12V/3A but the size isn’t really good for lugging it around to my friend’s house.

Slimmer power adaptor to bring around with DNS-313

Rated at 12V/2A
As mentioned earlier, the original power brick outputs at 12V/3A while this one outputs at 12V/2A. Plugged in the smaller power adaptor and crossed my fingers while the DNS-313 boots up.
Hurray! It seems like it has got no problem with it. Been running it for around 2 hours now, transferring files to and fro the DNS-313.
