Did up another internal usb hub mod for Wen Wei. Bought a swivel hub from the school’s bazaar and started soldering off all the unused connectors (power, led, USB) and added in the necessary parts (mobo connectors, web cam connector, USB ports) and viola! USB Hub is ready for install within a day!

Installed the USB Hub after lesson today and here’s are the pics!

Spend the afternoon of Sunday working on the internal USB hub for the eee pc. Touched up some soldering and insulating the PCB (printed circuit board) and connectors with kapton tape.

Hooked up the USB (in) to the motherboard’s camera port. Directed another USB cable to the camera connector. Booted up the eee pc and windows found a generic USB hub! Hooked up a 4GB Sandisk thumbdrive just above the ram slot. Took out the bluetooth as I don’t have much use for it. Probably get another 4GB and software raid them! Will snap some pictures of it soon.

EEE PC - Overclocking on the fly (-)

Came across a program by the name of eeectl which can actually modify the front side bus (fsb) speed on the fly! Not only could it toy with fsb speed, it can change the fan speed and display brightness as well! Hope I can squeeze more juice out of the battery by doing manual speed step.

4GB SSD is indeed insufficient for me. I watch animes and download quite a fair bit of stuffs and I often to delete them from the hard disk. So I need to hook up more storage! Internal USB hub modification is pretty common among the EEE PC fans. I also go onto the bandwagon and began wiring my USB hub!

I used 24AWG for the data lines, VCC and GND. Some pictures of my ugly wiring.
