Last day of work HP onsite @ Ministry of Manpower (2)

Ended my last day of work at MOM. Mixed feelings, finally no need to wake up early everyday, but then kind of miss all the great people at work. Fun people at work also – Chong Ge, Uncle … The quiet security guy sitting at the back of the office – Daniel Ho. The quiet network guy – Allan Tay. The DBA – Elizabeth. Our jiu xing – Yew Mun (cos every unsolved problems get escalated to him). The one who signs our time sheets – Alvin. The other great people at desktop support – Wang, Reyner, Dave, Sng… My temp supervisor – Ma and colleagues – Wu, Willie, Quek. Ma and Wu going to work together again at their new jobs. Willie’s going for his MBA. Quek – dunno about him.

Working onsite has given me new experience. Kinda like interacting with the users and solving mind boggling problems. Perhaps I am kind of trained-to-solve-my-own-computer-problems type of person ba. So solving computer problems gives me a sense of satisfaction. This work has actually exposed me to different authentication methods used in the real world. Is it called 2-factor authentication? Using the TAL (token assisted login), GEMplus card as well as RSA card whereby users key in their personal pin to generate a one time password with a lifespan.

Going to read up on more stuffs when I am free. So many things to master before jumping into the real working world. Hope I will be well prepared for any work in the future.

Willie, Wu! Standby at home (0)

Well, all of us are on contract for this current work. Contracts ends on the 31st of July 2006. Weird thing is, Willie and Wu are told to standby at home just because there isn’t much cases to do at work. Sounds good? But the problem is that we are paid by the hour. So it is much like bonding you and asking you not to come and no pay.

They should be allowed to get paid and come even though there isn’t much work for all of us. I don’t see that them employing more people/paying more during the busy periods. Anyway it is just 2 days. Thursday and today. Monday they also don’t need to come as well.

    Thursday! (0)

My 3rd last day at MOM. Reported for work at 1000hrs as the first user on the schedule is 1130hrs.

Pretty boring morning at MOM again. Ah, caught the fever bug for buying new handphone again. *tahan* *tahan*. Nokia N80 looks pretty good. Functions wise also sounds good other than the known short battery life issue. Will I utilise the functions that comes with the phone?

wifi – most probably since I cant live without internet connection
wide, clear and sharp screen – certainly a yes for watching animes during bus/train travels
camera – *nods furiously* as I take pictures often, but problem is the camera aint as good as my current k750 hybrid
external memory – of cos! for my animes
support for java – for miscellaneous applications I run on k750
support for symbian softwares – it is of cos a plus! More softwares for me to explore
short battery life – >_< problem problem since I do more calls on my mobile nowadays

Wondering if skype will release a version of its software on symbian. If it does, doing internet calls on N80 would be great. Hope Nokia will continue to support the N80.

Shall wait. Maybe it is just a 3 minute fever. *san fen zhong re du*

    Yawn..

Monday blues, especially when you need to report for work early in the morning at 0815hrs!!! Dragged myself out of bed, dragged myself onto the train towards Outram Park Station, then followed by Clark Quay Station. I’m tired. >_<

Now slacking and surfing net on client’s laptop. *oops*

    Working working. I want $$. Keke (0)

    Been neglecting my blog.
Now typing this entry using my cellphone just because the network at work is very slow at loading the internet.

Seems like the wan link is terrible. Tsk tsk.
Been waking up in the middle of sleep these few nights. Sigh.

Finally received my vendor pass at workplace. Guess later will be the proficiency test before we are dispatched to sites to roll out the system to client notebooks.
