… and sneezing due to 水土不服 at ESPO.
Colleagues are a friendly and realized that there are some people (Janet and Shao Ting) from my MIT course in Poly. Wow!
Let’s see. What happened this week? I signed up for 3 wrong courses using the wrong cost center and approving officer. Found myself a seat (originally was Gordon’s) at ESPO. Tried reading the SAP notes for plant maintenance. Met up with Eric Chia at DTTA during tea break. Got arrowed for some stuff in C2IT community day.
Not a bad week after all.
Just received the email. Looking forward to collecting the welcome/goodie pack and staff pass. Hope the picture would turn out fine for the staff pass.
I’ve not had a decent rest!
As mentioned earlier, my trusty old server has finally decided to give up on me after abusing it since year 2001. Had managed to shift most of the hosted services to other devices on the network. Shifted print server to a wireless G print server (DPR-1260), and the rest of the functions onto the DNS-323.
So what is the DNS-323 doing now? The list of stuff my DNS-323 is doing:
- Downloading and seeding files
- Tunneled connection for my Internet needs at public hot spots
- Automated backup using rsync for some network clients
- Web server for some project work
To minimize the harddisk reads and writes, most of the services are running off a flash drive. Lesser disk spins = power savings!
Without realizing it, two months have passed and it is my last day of service. Take care guys. Been fun learning stuffs from all of you.
My workplace needed a simple forum to test out some stuffs and so happened hangyong also needed one. So must as well I document the installation procedure for him as well. Researched abit on available forum scripts (phpbb, smf, etc.) and in the end settled with SMF for its lighter memory footprint.

At my work place area, I’ve the habit of using the zebra crossing every morning so that I could avoid the never ending vehicles that is turning into the small road. I used to cross illegally like others but most of the time I would need to wait a fair bit of time before the road is clear for crossing. So instead of waiting, now I walk over to the zebra cross and have the cars wait for me instead. *Evil grin*
Most responsible drivers would slow their car to a halt as pedestrians is near or on the zebra crossing. Today, I met one damn fcuking idiotic dangerous driver who stepped on the accelerator instead of the brakes and zoomed pass right infront of me. I was like – WTF. I know drivers have the habit of stepping on the gas when the traffic lights turn amber but the damm zebra crossing is so short and you could easy hit somebody. I should have taken down the plate number.
