Received the DCS-2120 camera from rebrecca a last weekend. First set – dead on arrival (DOA). Got it exchanged at Dlink Service Centre @ The Synergy with Serene on Monday (28082006) after school.

Setting up of the camera is pretty straight forward – plug in the ethernet cable, power on the set then use the included software to do the initial setup. Everything is smooth sailing until the point where I configure the wireless settings, yes the network camera can be wireless. Configure it to use WPA-PSK, the Dlink Installation Wizard doesn’t accept my passphrase. It reported that passphrase contains illegal character such as “, <, > and cant be used. Oh well, how come I don’t face problems with setting that key on my Nokia N80? And absolutely no problem using that passphrase in my wireless router (DGL-4300)?

Just heck care that and went straight to configuring the rest of the stuffs from the web console instead. Much more to configure! DDNS, adding of new non-administrative users, setting of video quality, …. and uh huh! Setting the WPA passphrase! Went to the network settings and pasted my WPA passphrase into the field and applied the settings. All seems well, this time it accepted the “, <, > characters but truncated everything from the & onwards. Ah, seems like the programmer didn’t do it job. Didn’t differentiate & from the & in linking up several variables over a web form posting. *dang*. Emailed the support for help regarding this. Didn’t know that there is so much issues with the passphrase I had. *faint*

Waiting for them to reply before I can test out the wireless range.
