Devil has crash!

After running the Devil system for so long. How long has it been? Perhaps since Polytechnic days (2001 to 2003), and it has been running 24/7 til last Friday when it finally gave up. The harddisk gave way, was a Western Digital 20GB harddisk I gotten during Poly days again. Got a Hitachi 82GB to replace, why Hitachi you may ask. I got it because, *drum rolls*, it is the only 80GB available at Cyberactive @ Westmall.

Looking at the bright side of things, the giving way of the 20GB allowed me to format Devil. Allowed me to shift the primary harddisk from the IDE 33 bus to the ATA 133 bus on my ATA card. This inturn improve the disk access speed, resulting in improvement in overall Operating System response. It also had sufficient disk space for me to specify a fixed size swap file (is it called swap in windows? or is it called virtual memory? If it is the latter, it is bad naming).

Perhaps the next thing I wish to get might be another 3COM PCI network card (buddies, if you got it, pass it to me. lol), and a WRT54G for playing. Feel like routing another AP thru Devil, primarily for those people who does wireless hijacking. The routing thru devil would allow me to write scripts that toys with the html response for unauthenticated users. For those authenticated users, the AP would improve the range of my wireless coverage in my area.

Time to study! Lots of time wasted! Or rather not wasted. Lots of time being spent on digressing from my study block. loL
