Bangkok – Day 3

This time round, we woke up at the right timing (GMT+7). Collected breakfast coupons as usual from the receptionist. Serene wakes up slightly earlier daily to prepare her meals for the day.

We went down to MBK again to change some currency and Ricky’s faulty belt. We reached too early and MBk isn’t open for public yet. A tuk tuk driver approached us and offered to bring us to places to buy cheap stuffs. Having done our homework by reading up forums as well as travel guides (Lonely Planet), we didn’t go with him. We walked to the main entrance of MBK and after a while, MBK is open for business! They have a practice of sales person standing at attention to greet the shoppers for the day.

We went straight up to the shop where Ricky got his belt from. As expected, the sales girl simply took out a pair of pliers and started twisting some mechanism to make the belt work again. *slaps forehead*

Next destination – Chatukchak!

Chatukchak – Busy weekend market

Weather is super hot! It is made worst by the way the area is set up, heat get trapped under those tents. The installed fans only blow hot air. As seen in the picture, the area is also super crowdy! Seems like it is not only popular with tourists, it is also popular with their locals. Quenched our thirst with coconuts!

Coconut without the shell

Wonder how do they de-shell the coconut. You just have to poke your straw in to drink the juice. If you feel like eating the flesh, just bite it!

Cute puppies at Chatukchak Weekend Market

There is also a lane selling pets – dogs, cats, weird animals. Those puppies and kittens are really cute! The way they bark and purr.

Chatukchak weekend market is really a huge place to explore but we didn’t really spend a lot of time exploring it as most of the stalls sell similar goods. We left the market at around 4pm for our hotel to take a rest.

We had our dinner at MBK’s Pizza Hut. Didn’t know that they don’t serve iced water in glasses. They come in bottles. :|. We ordered five and ended up taking three only. No wonder the waitress was a bit amazed when we asked for five.

Pizza is pretty much the same everywhere

Did our last minute shopping at MBK until late at night. Initially wanted to visit Patpong but none of the taxi drivers want to fetch us there. Wonder why? Ended up walking around the area, visited roadside makeshift stalls (like night market) and shopping malls like Siam Paragon. Things are boring when we are low on cash. Can’t buy the stuffs we want. Haha! Went back to hotel after that! Caught a few movies – Thai Queen Show, Terminator 3.
