EEE PC’s short battery life
The battery life of my new gadget isn’t that splendid. After using it for close to one hour, I am only left with 60% battery. So what have I done in the past hour? I only remember accessing network shares, surfing and opening a couple of spreadsheets and word documents. I really wonder if it could serve me through next semester’s work load?
The great thing is that the charger is rather small. It is slightly larger than the old Nokia cellphone charger, making it easy to bring around and perhaps lose it as well. After reading that the main harddrive is solid state. It has made me skeptical as they’ve got a lifespan which is measured in terms of reads and writes. Should I lengthen the lifespan of the SSD and place all non-operating system files on the memory card?
Glad that Wen Wei had upgraded my gadget to 1GB of ram. It has made my EEE PC experience better. Can’t imagine the OS swapping files to and fro the SSD (which will accelerate its death). Wonder if I could lay my hands on a N wireless card so I could swap the b/g one out.
Phew. I still got 60% battery life left after blogging this entry.
