Flying kites – I enjoy them, do you?

Picked up the hobby of kite flying recently after attending a kite making and flying event by company. I found kite flying to be an enjoyable process and at the same time, I am able to spend time with my love ones without burning a hole in my pocket. Of course, there are some upfront costs – kite, extra kite line, shades, etc.

The kite

Personally, I am not a fan of regular diamond shaped kites so I scouted the Internet for fanciful kites. There are quite a few online shops in Singapore selling kites but most of the design are childish. Happened to chanced upon a bat shaped kite. Yeap, the kite shown above is mine. Get a good kite if you plan to fly regularly. You may want to reinforce edges that are prone to fraying.

Kite line

The kite came with the standard 30 meters flying line in a D handle. Trust me, 30 meters is real short. I bought an additional 120 meters of kite line and I found it short as well. Trying to find 300 meters worth of braided (not twisted) kite line. Any ideas where I can get them?

Shades

Serene bought a pair of shades and that prompt me to get one too. We normally go kite flying in the late afternoon and the sun is still quite glaring. Shades made kite flying more soothing and allow you to admire the sky full of kites.

Wonder when am I going to fly again?
