It’s the NKF show again..

NKF stands for National Kidney Foundation.

It’s meant to be an organisation that assist kidney patients by subsidizing them. In this show, local and oversea artistes performs and even do stunts to get views to donate by calling a number. Can be a donation of $5, $10 or even $50. Of cos the telco that provide this charges some administrative cost of $0.25 and callers will stand a chance to win various prices like condos, cars and even cash prices of various amount like $5,000, $10,000 and $100,000. Beside all these performances, they get students and friends of NKF (those no longer in school and yet receive the donation card) to help them with NKF donation card, and of cos if you get donation to cross a certain amount, you get certain freebies. ANd you stand to take part in lucky draws.

Now back to the NKF show, the stunts which artistes perform are getting dangerous and more dangerous as the year passes. Seems like they are playing with the viewer feelings to get donations which I felt is like not appropriate. They can perform simple task like magic shows, singings or even jokes which Gurmit Singh performed recently with the “horny guys” to show off their musical talents and creativity. And personally I felt that donation comes from the bottom of the heart, not because I donate and I stand a chance to win all these. Kind of like the wrong mindset which donators are going to adopt.

Imagine if next time you are walking on the road and a student approaches you with a tin can asking you for donation, and you ask them if there are any receipts or sort, or even lucky draws to win condominiums, cars or even cash. Turn them down when there are none..

The NKF show is on the 11th and 18th of this month. Guess I aint going to donate this year..

Wow, seems like the performance this time round kind of scary. For example, the “tie-sha-zhang” item. The lady has to poke her hands into a wok of roasted, and still roasting, sands. Hold up a glass pot of boiling water with her bare hands. *Ouch*

And Jack Neo performed by doing the fire eating trick, followed by eating hot charcoals. These people are simply nuts!

Interesting part is they lifted Moses Lim up, before that I was commenting to mummy and Dixie that it would be interesting if they lifted Moses Lim up instead. Then they actually did!! Wonder how many people are needed to hold him up in the mid air. *hmMmmm*
