Home Sweet Home

Finally got discharged from Hospital for Video-Assisted thoracoscopic surgery.

The operation took place on Thursday (190804), followed by a short (1 or 2 days) stay at High Dependency Ward (ICU), then got transferred to normal ward. Since Thursday, I was bedridden due as I have got 2 chest tubes inserted into my left chest, at each ends are 2 containers plus a suction machine.

The stuffs continuously drain blood and air from the lung. Only got the tubes removed on Monday (230804) and CXR shows that the lung has expanded well and no pneumothorax even when the tubes are removed.

Oh ya, forgot to elaborate on how they remove the tube, first they will cut off the surgical threads binding your skin to the surface of the tube, next you will have to breath in fully and hold your breathe. Next the doctor will rip the tube out of your body. Sigh, poor me, I have got 2 tubes.

Well the upper tube is inserted from the left side chest, near the armpit. It is roughly 10cm inside the body. The bottom tube is slightly below the first and has got to reach all the way to the bottom of the lung, roughly 10 to 12 cm long inside the body. 🙂

Thanks Dixie, Daniel, Ken, Tze Yong, Rena, Tammy, Linda, Vania and relatives for visting me wor.

Especially Dixie and Mummy who took care of me everyday.
