Opera Mini for your phone

Opera Mini aint a normal J2ME Web Browsing Midlet. Normal browser midlet will send request from the cellphone itself and parse the replies from servers thru the J2ME midlet itself.

In Opera Mini case, processing server is between your cellphone and the webserver. This processing server by Opera Software ASA retrieves the webpage on your behalf, reformat and compress it before sending to your phone. The result? Faster webpage loading speed.

Security wise is doubtful as afterall it passes thru a middle man, and don’t know if the processing server has got any loopholes. Just imagine there is a bug and another party receives your confidential email message. You will be warned of SSL pages though.
