Himalayan Pink Salt Lamps

Himalayan salt crystal lamps are made from salt crystals rocks formed by nature hundreds of millions of years ago and mined from deep underground from the foothills of Himalayas. When warmed up, healthful negative ions lift off the surface of the salt lamp and help to cleanse and improve the quality and freshness of the surrounding air.
Err.. What are the benefits?
According to what I have searched/google-ed, salt crystal lamps improves the indoor air quality and reduces the amount of positively charged ions released by electronic devices.
So how does it improve air quality and reduce positively charged ions?
In layman terms, the heated salt crystal lamp:
- Attracts humidity causing the surface of the salt crystal to become moist
- Creates a buildup of ions and removes moisture from the air
- Binds excessive positive ions with their negative ions. Effectively reducing the allergens and irritants in the air. Positive ions generated by electronic devices are reduced too
In slightly more chemistry way:
- Ionization – The emission of ions is primarily caused by the alternating actions of the heated salt’s ability to first attract and absorb water, and then evaporate it. The salt goes into a solution as it mixes with the water molecules. Sodium, as positively charged ions, and chloride, as negatively charged ions, become neutral and are released into your environment — which helps reduce pollutants such as allergens and irritants from your air
So did you feel any different after getting it?
Not sure if it is a placebo effect but I do not have sinuses that often now. So maybe there is some truth in it. Another good thing about the himalayan salt lamps are that they make good night light / ambience lighting. The warm orangey glow makes the surrounding feels homely.

If you are interested in getting some, do check out Himalayan Pink Salt Shop. Prem and his wife will be glad to share more on the benefits of Himalayan Salt Crystal Lamps. Just let them know you got to know it through Andy.
P.S.: I am in no way affiliated with them.
