Building a retro-gaming machine

I have a soft spot for retro games. I remember spending hours clearing stages in Shining Force with my elder brother on our Sega Mega Drive when we were young. Spending afternoons with friends at the arcade trying to defeat Deimos using Elf in the side-scrolling game of Dungeon & Dragons: Tower of Doom; and figuring out how to do 99-hits combo in Marvel vs Capcom. For some, their hands might be itchy for a game of King of Fighters ’98 after seeing these game titles.

Applying for SGS Bond using SRS Fund

Little did I expect that applying for Singapore Government Securities (SGS) bond issues using funds from Supplementary Retirement Scheme (SRS) account is a lengthy process filled with question marks and confused looks from bank staffs. In fact, it is just involves filling up a two-page form but it took me almost two hours at DBS Bedok branch. I reached there at 4.10pm, was attended to at 4.30pm and only left the place at 5.45pm on a Thursday.

H96-P DLP Android Pocket Projector Review

Just a few days back, I was looking around for a pocket projector to cast my movies or shows onto the ceiling of my bedroom (because I don’t have a television in the bedroom). I settled on the H96-P ultra-portable DLP projector. The good thing about it is that it runs Android and thus new apps or contents can be easily added. I managed to get it on GearBest for less than US$200. At this price point, I think the H96-P could easily be the best value for money portable DLP projector.

Looking around for Portable Projectors

I been wondering if there are people who projects shows (or movies) onto their ceiling? Imagine resting on the bed and looking at the ceiling for shows or movies. It sounds pretty comfortable compared to having television at the end of the bed.

In my case, adding a television seems impossible as the wall opposite the bed is like 2 to 3 metres away. Hence, a portable projector that can be easily powered by power bank makes a lot of more sense.

Ticwatch E Review

Mobvoi, a Chinese startup, released their next generation of Ticwatch series – Ticwatch S&E. It is available in two variants – Sports (Ticwatch S) and Express (Ticwatch E). I backed the Kickstarter project on 12th July 2017 (backer #3606) for a pair of Ticwatch E at US$245. It was slated for delivery in October 2017 but it was only delivered to me on 25th November 2017 after some delay.

Stepping inside Zero Latency Singapore’s warehouse-scale free-roam multi-player VR World

Equipment? Checked. Weapons? Checked. Zombies and alien robots? Bring it on! Recently, I joined a group of six at Zero Latency Singapore for a session of multi-player virtual-reality (VR) game. We teleported into a VR world where we cooperated and fought our way to safety. One of my team mates leaped backwards when the zombie horde crashed through the barrier and bumped into me. It reminded me that there is actually a real person behind the avatar that I am seeing.

Mifold Ultra-Portable Booster Seat Review

We have been taking car rides frequently these days, especially private-hire cars for the ease of traveling. To make the journey safer, we decided to get the mifold Ultra-Portable Booster Seat for my elder daughter so she could be properly and safely secured for the rides without us lugging a bulky booster seat along. We managed to get it from Amazon at US$39.99 (~S$57).
