Google Pixel 5 Review

Okay, let me do a hashtag first – #TeamPixel. This is my first mobile phone from Google – Pixel 5. The Google Pixel 5 is a 5G phone with 90Hz display, 128GB storage, 6GB RAM and IP68 dust/water resistance. Last but not the least, Google Pixel phones’s camera usually delivers astounding picture quality. I got the Google Pixel 5 (Sorta Sage) for £476.43 (~S$857) after offsetting my gift cards (£45) from Amazon (UK).

QNAP TS-253D NAS Review

The QNAP TS-253D is a quad-core 2.5GbE two-bay NAS for professionals and prosumers requiring a localised backup as part of their comprehensive data backup strategy. Consumers can also practice good backup hygiene by backing up documents and memories (photos, videos, etc.) on their laptops and mobile phones to a local NAS like the TS-253D and an off-site backup in the Cloud. The TS-253D comes with an HDMI output so you can reminisce these digital memories on the TV. In this review, we will be looking at the QNAP TS-253D two-bay NAS that retails for S$609.99 on Lazada.

Turning the Xiaomi Air Purifier 3H into a Fan

The Xiaomi Air Purifier 3H is an inexpensive air purifier that works great. My only complain about it is that the output (air) is not directional like the air purifiers I have from Samsung and Sharp which I prefer as I can direct the filtered air at location where there are more human activities/ presences. I happened to chance upon a contraption that turns the Xiaomi Air Purifier into a louver fan which channels filtered air to places I want it to be.

Wistino 15.6-inch Portable IPS Monitor

Most people, including myself, have been working from home due to COVID-19. I am used to having two monitors at work and it is incredibly useful – one displaying research materials while the other with my report; or having a larger screen to work on presentation materials. Working-from-home means I am stuck with a single monitor and the target display mode (of my 27-inch iMac) don’t work well with all source device (i.e. Windows).

Instead of getting a desk-bound monitor, I bought the Wistino 15.6-inch portable IPS monitor from Lazada at S$169.20 (shipping inclusive). Aside from extending my computer’s desktop, it could also double up as a portable display if I ever need to bring my Nintendo Switch out for parties or gathering.

59S UVC LED Steriliser Box S2

I think the COVID-19 has changed our lifestyles rather drastically. People are more conscious about personal hygiene – donning face masks, washing hands frequently and probably sanitising personal belongings like mobile phone and keys. I chose UVC irradiation to sterilise personal belongings as it is shown to be able to inactivate bacterias and viruses. Another plus point is that UVC irradiation seems to be be able to get into every nook and crannies of daily objects like keys, mobile phones and spectacles. I bought the 59S UVC LED Steriliser Box a couple of months back for S$86.30 off Lazada.

Baseus GaN 65W Mini Quick Charge Travel Charger Review

USB-C is pretty much the de factor connector standard for charging mobile and computing devices these days. Quick charging protocols such as PD 3.0, QC 4+, QC 3.0, SCP, FCP, AFC, PE+, etc. are pretty much the norm. To concurrently charge multiple devices, I searched for a portable charger with at least two ports. That is when I found the Baseus GaN (Gallium nitride) 65W Mini Quick Charge Travel Charger at S$37.61.

N2 Elite NFC Emulator

Nintendo Switch owners should be familiar with amiibo figures. By tapping them on the right Joy-Con controller, you can unlock in game bonuses and add a lot of fun to compatible games. These bonuses are not single use and people actually share them with family and friends. To do so, they either borrow the amiibo figure or clone their data onto compatible NFC tag. I got the N2 Elite NFC Emulator to do just that.
